Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Forvax (Форвакс) is an osmotic laxative solution developed by the Research Institute for Physical Chemical Problems of the Belarusian State University. It is specifically designed for total gastrointestinal tract cleansing (lavage) in preparation for endoscopic or radiological examinations, as well as colonic surgery. The formulation contains macrogol 4000 (polyethylene glycol 4000), a high-molecular-weight linear polymer that retains water molecules in the intestinal lumen through hydrogen bonding. This osmotic effect increases the volume and liquid content of the stool, which mechanically stimulates intestinal peristalsis and leads to rapid evacuation. To prevent systemic dehydration or mineral shifts during the high-volume lavage process, the preparation includes a balanced mixture of electrolytes, including sodium chloride, potassium chloride, sodium bicarbonate, and sodium sulfate.
