Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Madame Pearl's Children's Cough Syrup (also known as Madame Pearl's Cough Syrup F2 for Children) is an over-the-counter oral combination cough and cold syrup developed under the 'Madame Pearl's' brand, owned by Luxembourg Medicine Company (a subsidiary of Wai Yuen Tong Medicine and Wang On Group). The product is specifically formulated for children aged 6 to 12 years to relieve cough, phlegm, and symptoms associated with upper respiratory tract infections, common cold, and influenza. It is a multi-ingredient pharmaceutical product containing noscapine hydrochloride (a non-opioid antitussive that acts centrally as a sigma-1 receptor agonist), guaifenesin (an expectorant that thins bronchial secretions), chlorpheniramine maleate (a first-generation H1 antihistamine that reduces runny nose and sneezing), and squill liquid extract (a traditional expectorant that promotes mucus clearance). The syrup has a long-established market presence in Hong Kong and is distributed across mainland China, Macau, and other regions.
