Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Simgel is an antacid and antiflatulent combination therapy developed by Stadchem. It is formulated as an oral gel or suspension containing magaldrate (an inorganic salt antacid) and simethicone (an antifoaming agent). Simgel is indicated for the symptomatic relief of hyperacidity, heartburn, acid indigestion, bloating, and stomach ulcers. Magaldrate works by neutralizing excess gastric acid in the stomach, thereby raising the gastric pH and protecting the stomach lining. Simethicone acts by reducing the surface tension of gas bubbles in the gastrointestinal tract, causing them to coalesce into larger bubbles that can be easily expelled, thereby relieving bloating and abdominal discomfort.
