Overview
**TPN Electrolytes** is a sterile, nonpyrogenic concentrated intravenous multi-electrolyte additive containing magnesium chloride, sodium chloride, sodium acetate, calcium chloride, and potassium chloride. It is diluted into concentrated dextrose and amino-acid total parenteral nutrition solutions for central venous infusion in adults to maintain electrolyte homeostasis. The product replaces essential sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium, chloride, and acetate ions required for extracellular fluid balance, membrane excitability, neuromuscular function, enzymatic activity, acid-base balance, and cellular metabolism. It contains no phosphate and must not be administered undiluted.
