Milk of Magnesia + Liquid Paraffin is a combination laxative suspension containing magnesium hydroxide and liquid paraffin. Magnesium hydroxide functions as an osmotic laxative by drawing water into the intestinal lumen, which increases stool volume and stimulates peristalsis. Liquid paraffin acts as a lubricant, coating the stool and the intestinal wall to facilitate easier passage through the gastrointestinal tract. This dual-action formulation is primarily indicated for the short-term treatment of constipation, including occasional constipation, hard or dry stools, and post-operative constipation, especially in conditions where straining must be avoided.
