Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Magnesium orotate + cholecalciferol + menaquinone-7 is a nutraceutical combination developed by Overseas Healthcare for the potential management of type 2 diabetes (T2D) and dyslipidemia. The combination consists of magnesium orotate (a mineral salt), cholecalciferol (Vitamin D3), and menaquinone-7 (Vitamin K2). Preclinical research conducted in Streptozotocin-Nicotinamide-induced T2D rat models demonstrated that the combination is superior to its individual components in reducing hyperglycemia, improving insulin secretion, and lowering insulin resistance (HOMA-IR). Additionally, the combination showed efficacy in managing dyslipidemia and was found to preserve or regenerate pancreatic β-cell mass. As of 2021, the combination remains in the preclinical stage, with further clinical evaluation recommended by the researchers.
