Overview

Maraviroc is a small molecule CCR5 co-receptor antagonist developed by Pfizer for the treatment of CCR5-tropic HIV-1 infection. It works by selectively binding to the human chemokine receptor CCR5 on CD4 cells, thereby blocking the interaction between HIV-1 gp120 and CCR5 and preventing viral entry into host cells. Maraviroc is used in combination with other antiretroviral agents for HIV therapy[3][6][8]. Boceprevir is a small molecule direct-acting antiviral agent classified as an NS3/4A protease inhibitor. Developed for chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection (primarily genotype 1), it inhibits the HCV NS3/4A serine protease required for viral replication by cleaving viral polyproteins into mature proteins. Boceprevir was used in combination with peginterferon alfa and ribavirin[2][4][5]. This entry refers to the use of both drugs together; however, there are no standard indications or approved uses for this specific combination.
