Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**maribavir + rabeprazole** is a combination of two pharmaceutical agents: maribavir, a cytomegalovirus (CMV) pUL97 kinase inhibitor approved for refractory post-transplant CMV infection[4], and rabeprazole, a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) used for reducing gastric acid secretion. While there is no evidence this combination is marketed as a fixed-dose or branded product, the combination has recently been studied for drug-drug interaction and pharmacokinetic effects, especially regarding how rabeprazole affects maribavir exposure in plasma[2][3]. Maribavir inhibits CMV replication by targeting the UL97 kinase, preventing the phosphorylation of essential proteins needed for viral DNA synthesis[4]. Rabeprazole acts by inhibiting the gastric H+/K+-ATPase, increasing gastric pH and affecting absorption of drugs sensitive to acid breakdown.
