A **synthetic peptide vaccine** consisting of a minimal immunodominant 9-amino acid peptide (AAGIGILTV) derived from the **MART-1 (Melanoma Antigen Recognized by T-cells 1) tumor antigen**, corresponding to residues 27-35 of the protein, formulated for immunotherapy of melanoma. It is designed to induce a targeted CD8+ T cell immune response against melanoma cells presenting the MART-1 epitope in the context of HLA-A2 MHC I molecules. The peptide is generally administered with immunologic adjuvants such as incomplete Freund’s adjuvant, Montanide ISA-51, GM-CSF, and/or a TLR9 agonist (such as PF-3512676) to enhance immunogenicity. This vaccine has been explored primarily in high-risk or metastatic melanoma patients in early-phase trials as a personalized cancer immunotherapy strategy. The principal developer and sponsor has been the National Cancer Institute[1][2][3].
