MaZiRenWan + HuangQi

MaZiRenWan (MZRW), also known as Hemp Seed Pill, is a traditional Chinese herbal medicine formulation that has been used for over 2,000 years to treat constipation. Developed for modern clinical use by the School of Chinese Medicine at Hong Kong Baptist University, the core formula consists of six herbal ingredients: Hemp Seed, Rhubarb, Magnolia Bark, Bitter Orange, Bitter Apricot Seed, and White Peony Root. For the treatment of constipation in palliative cancer patients, a modified version combining the MZRW core with HuangQi (Astragalus membranaceus) has been evaluated in Phase 2 clinical trials. The formulation's mechanism of action involves multiple bioactive compounds that enhance gut motility and modulate metabolic pathways, including the regulation of metabolites such as oleamide.
