Drug intelligence / Profile preview
MC-1019 is an investigational cannabinoid-based oro-buccal spray developed by Medlab Clinical. It utilizes the proprietary NanoCelle™ drug delivery platform, which encapsulates tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD) into water-soluble submicron nanoparticles. This formulation is designed to enhance the bioavailability of cannabinoids through the buccal mucosa, bypassing first-pass metabolism. MC-1019 acts as an agonist at the cannabinoid receptors CB1 and CB2, which are involved in the modulation of pain signaling and inflammatory responses. The drug has been primarily evaluated in prospective observational studies in Australia for the management of chronic pain, often alongside a companion product, MC-1022.
