Overview

Me1-14 F(ab')2 is the F(ab')2 fragment of a murine IgG2a monoclonal antibody (Me1-14) directed against a proteoglycan chondroitin sulfate-associated protein expressed by gliomas and melanomas. This agent has been studied primarily as a radioimmunotherapeutic or diagnostic tool when conjugated to radioisotopes such as iodine-131. By binding to its target antigen on tumor cells, Me1-14 F(ab')2 can localize tumors for imaging or deliver targeted radiotoxicity in therapeutic applications. The use of the smaller antibody fragment (F(ab’)₂) improves tumor-to-normal tissue ratios and enhances early specific tumor localization compared to whole IgG antibodies[4][5][8]. It was developed by the National Cancer Institute and Duke University for investigational use in brain tumors, metastatic melanoma, and neoplasms involving the central nervous system[1][3].
