Drug intelligence / Profile preview
The measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine is a live attenuated viral vaccine used to induce protective immunity against three viral diseases. In a clinical trial conducted by the Hospital Clinic of Barcelona (NCT00118742), this commercial vaccine was administered as part of a broader immunization schedule to HIV-infected adults who were stable on highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART). The study aimed to determine if repeated antigenic stimulation from standard vaccines would adversely affect HIV viral load, promote resistance, or alter the specific immunological response in patients with undetectable viral loads and CD4 counts over 500 cells/mm3.
