Measovir is a live attenuated measles vaccine developed and manufactured by the Serum Institute of India. It contains the Edmonston-Zagreb strain of the measles virus, which has been attenuated through serial passage in human diploid cells. The vaccine is indicated for the active immunization of children and adults against measles. Upon administration, the attenuated virus replicates minimally, mimicking a natural infection to elicit a robust and long-lasting immune response, including the production of IgG antibodies and the activation of T-lymphocytes. It is typically supplied as a lyophilized powder that must be reconstituted with a sterile diluent before subcutaneous injection.
