Drug intelligence / Profile preview
The measles vaccine + respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) vaccine is an investigational combination vaccine candidate designed to provide dual protection against both measles and RSV infections. The most prominent version of this combination utilizes a recombinant, live-attenuated measles virus (MV) platform (typically the Schwarz strain) as a viral vector to express the fusion (F) protein of the respiratory syncytial virus. By leveraging the established safety and high immunogenicity of the measles vaccine, the candidate induces both humoral and cellular immune responses against the measles virus and the RSV F protein. This approach is particularly targeted at the pediatric population, where both pathogens represent significant causes of morbidity and mortality. The measles vector replicates within the host, ensuring prolonged antigen presentation and the induction of robust T-cell memory.
