Drug intelligence / Profile preview
measles vaccine + Synflorix refers to the co-administration or combination regimen of a live-attenuated measles vaccine and GlaxoSmithKline's 10-valent pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (PCV10), known as Synflorix (GSK1024850A). Synflorix is designed to provide active immunization against invasive disease, pneumonia, and acute otitis media caused by *Streptococcus pneumoniae* serotypes 1, 4, 5, 6B, 7F, 9V, 14, 18C, 19F, and 23F. It utilizes a unique carrier protein system including Protein D (derived from non-typeable *Haemophilus influenzae*), tetanus toxoid, and diphtheria toxoid. The measles vaccine component is typically a live-attenuated viral vaccine (such as the Schwarz strain). This specific co-administration schedule has been evaluated in Phase 3 clinical trials (e.g., NCT00861367) to assess safety and immunogenicity in various pediatric populations, including infants infected with or exposed to HIV, ensuring that concurrent administration does not interfere with the protective immune response to either pathogen.
