Overview

Mebendazole + quinfamide is a fixed-dose combination oral pharmaceutical product consisting of two small molecule antiparasitic drugs: mebendazole, a broad-spectrum benzimidazole anthelmintic, and quinfamide, a luminal amebicide. The combination is primarily indicated for the treatment of intestinal helminthiasis (infections by intestinal worms) and amoebiasis (intestinal infection by Entamoeba histolytica). Mebendazole acts by inhibiting microtubule synthesis in parasitic worms, causing their immobilization and death. Quinfamide acts on the protozoan cell wall, impairing cell division and function in amoebae. The combination is extensively used in regions endemic for these parasitic infections, with proven efficacy and safety in clinical studies, notably in the Mexican population[1][2][4][5][6].
