Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Mebeverine + simethicone** is an oral fixed-dose combination of mebeverine hydrochloride, a myotropic gastrointestinal antispasmodic, and simethicone, a locally acting antifoaming agent. In the Phase 3 MESI3001 study, Abbott evaluated film-coated tablets containing 135 mg mebeverine and 80 mg simethicone three times daily for abdominal pain and bloating or flatulence associated with functional bowel disorders, including irritable bowel syndrome, chronic functional constipation, chronic functional diarrhea, and functional abdominal bloating. The combination is intended to reduce gastrointestinal smooth-muscle spasm and facilitate dispersion of intestinal gas bubbles. ([clinicaltrials.gov](https://clinicaltrials.gov/study/NCT05175131))
