A combination therapy consisting of mecobalamin (a coenzyme form of vitamin B12) and lidocaine (a local anesthetic). It is primarily investigated for the treatment of zoster-associated pain and postherpetic neuralgia. Mecobalamin facilitates nerve repair by acting as a cofactor for methionine synthase, which promotes axonal regeneration and the synthesis of the myelin sheath. Lidocaine provides immediate analgesic relief by blocking voltage-gated sodium channels, thereby inhibiting the transmission of pain signals along peripheral nerves. This dual-action approach aims to both alleviate acute neuropathic pain and address the underlying nerve damage associated with herpes zoster infections. The combination is typically administered via local infiltration or intramuscular injection.
