Drug intelligence / Profile preview
MEDI3617 + paclitaxel is an investigational combination therapy for advanced solid tumors, specifically evaluated in clinical trials for cancers such as ovarian cancer. MEDI3617 is a fully humanized monoclonal IgG1 kappa antibody that selectively binds and inhibits angiopoietin-2 (Ang2), thereby blocking the interaction of Ang2 with its receptor Tie2, and inhibiting angiogenesis (the formation of new blood vessels). Paclitaxel is a well-known cytotoxic chemotherapy agent that stabilizes microtubules and inhibits cancer cell mitosis. The combination was explored because simultaneous angiogenesis inhibition and cytotoxic chemotherapy may enhance antitumor effects.
