Drug intelligence / Profile preview
MEDI7510 + inactivated influenza vaccine is a combination vaccine regimen investigated by MedImmune (a subsidiary of AstraZeneca) for the simultaneous prevention of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) and influenza in older adults. MEDI7510 is a subunit vaccine consisting of a recombinant RSV fusion (F) protein in the postfusion configuration, adjuvanted with glucopyranosyl lipid A in a stable emulsion (GLA-SE), which acts as a Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) agonist to enhance immune responses. The inactivated influenza vaccine (IIV) component is a standard marketed seasonal flu vaccine. The regimen was evaluated in a Phase 2b trial (NCT02508194) to assess the safety and immunogenicity of concurrent administration. However, the trial was terminated after MEDI7510 failed to demonstrate sufficient efficacy in preventing RSV-associated acute respiratory illness.
