Overview
Centamol Plus is an oral fixed-dose combination suspension containing mefenamic acid and paracetamol, developed by Centaur Pharmaceuticals. It is indicated for the treatment of pyrexia (fever) and mild to moderate pain in pediatric patients, such as headaches, toothaches, muscle aches, and joint pain. Mefenamic acid is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that works by inhibiting cyclooxygenase-1 (COX-1) and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) enzymes, thereby blocking prostaglandin synthesis. Paracetamol (acetaminophen) acts primarily on the central nervous system to reduce pain perception and lower body temperature by acting on the hypothalamic heat-regulating center. Together, these two active ingredients provide synergistic analgesic and antipyretic effects.
