Overview

mefway (18F) (also known as mefWAY F18) is a fluorine-18 labeled radiopharmaceutical that acts as a highly selective antagonist for the serotonin 5-HT1A receptor. Developed as a positron emission tomography (PET) imaging tracer, it is designed to quantify 5-HT1A receptor distribution and density in the brain, which is implicated in various central nervous system disorders such as Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, major depressive disorder, and anxiety. Compared to carbon-11 labeled tracers like [11C]WAY-100635, mefway (18F) offers a longer half-life and greater resistance to in vivo defluorination, providing improved imaging quality and quantification capabilities.
