Melacine + interferon alfa-2b is an investigational combination therapy consisting of the melanoma vaccine Melacine and the cytokine interferon alfa-2b. Melacine is a polyvalent melanoma cell lysate vaccine intended to stimulate immune responses against melanoma-associated antigens, while interferon alfa-2b is an immunomodulatory cytokine with antiviral, antiproliferative, and immune-enhancing properties. Both components are designed to synergistically enhance antitumor immunity for patients with melanoma. Interferon alfa-2b acts primarily through binding to the interferon alpha/beta receptor, inducing JAK-STAT signal transduction, and modulating immune effector functions, while Melacine serves as a therapeutic cancer vaccine that primes T cell and humoral responses against melanoma.
