Overview

This peptide-based cancer vaccine, developed by the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Vaudois (CHUV) in Lausanne, Switzerland, is designed for the treatment of HLA-A2 positive stage III/IV melanoma. The vaccine formulation typically consists of Melan-A (also known as MART-1) and Tyrosinase tumor-associated antigen peptides. To enhance the immune response, these peptides are combined with two adjuvants: CpG 7909 (agatolimod sodium), a synthetic oligodeoxynucleotide that acts as a Toll-like receptor 9 (TLR-9) agonist, and Montanide ISA-51, an incomplete Freund's adjuvant that creates a water-in-oil emulsion. The vaccine is administered subcutaneously and aims to stimulate tumor-specific CD8+ T cell responses against melanoma cells expressing these specific antigens.
