Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Meningo A + C** is a bivalent meningococcal conjugate vaccine targeting serogroups A and C of *Neisseria meningitidis*, used to prevent invasive meningococcal disease such as bacterial meningitis and meningococcemia. It induces an immune response by conjugating purified polysaccharides from serogroups A and C to carrier proteins like diphtheria toxoid (CRM197) or tetanus toxoid, enhancing immunogenicity especially in infants and young children through T-cell dependent immunity. Primarily indicated for active immunization in at-risk populations, including adolescents, travelers to endemic areas, and those with complement deficiencies; note that quadrivalent formulations (ACWY) are more commonly available in many markets, but bivalent AC vaccines have been used historically in regions with predominant A and C outbreaks.[1][2][3][4]
