Overview
Menveo is a quadrivalent meningococcal conjugate vaccine indicated for active immunization to prevent invasive meningococcal disease caused by Neisseria meningitidis serogroups A, C, Y, and W-135. The vaccine is composed of purified capsular oligosaccharides from each of the four serogroups, which are individually conjugated to the CRM197 protein, a non-toxic mutant of the diphtheria toxin. This conjugation enhances the immune response by engaging T-cells, which is particularly important for providing protection in infants and young children. Originally developed by Novartis Vaccines and Diagnostics, the product is now part of the GSK portfolio following their acquisition of Novartis's vaccine division. It is administered as an intramuscular injection and is approved for use in individuals ranging from 2 months to 55 years of age.
