Overview
Novartis Meningococcal ACWY (brand name Menveo) is a quadrivalent conjugate vaccine developed to prevent invasive meningococcal disease caused by *Neisseria meningitidis* serogroups A, C, W-135, and Y. The vaccine is composed of purified capsular oligosaccharides from each of the four serogroups, which are individually conjugated to the CRM197 carrier protein (a non-toxic mutant of diphtheria toxin). This conjugation enhances the immunogenicity of the polysaccharides by engaging T-cell help, which is particularly important for inducing a robust and lasting immune response in infants and young children. Originally developed by Novartis Vaccines & Diagnostics, the vaccine was part of the portfolio acquired by GSK in 2015.
