Drug intelligence / Profile preview
The Meningococcal A and C Polysaccharide Conjugate Vaccine is a bivalent, lyophilized conjugate vaccine developed by Beijing Zhifei Lvzhu Biopharmaceutical Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Chongqing Zhifei Biological Products. It is designed to provide immune protection against meningococcal meningitis caused by *Neisseria meningitidis* serogroups A and C. The vaccine contains 10 μg each of purified capsular polysaccharides from serogroups A and C, each chemically conjugated to a tetanus toxoid carrier protein. This conjugation converts the polysaccharides into T-cell dependent antigens, which enhances immunogenicity and induces immunological memory, particularly in infants and young children. Formulated without an adjuvant, the vaccine is administered via intramuscular injection. It received clinical approval from China's State Food and Drug Administration (SFDA) in September 2015 and is indicated for individuals aged 3 months and older.
