Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This is a combination vaccine containing **purified polysaccharide antigens** from Neisseria meningitidis serogroups A and C (meningococcal AC) and from *Haemophilus influenzae* type b (Hib) in the form of polyribosylribitol phosphate (PRP) polysaccharide. The antigens are not conjugated to protein carriers, making it a plain polysaccharide vaccine, not a conjugate. The vaccine induces antibody-mediated (humoral) immunity primarily through production of serogroup-specific antibodies (T-cell-independent response). Meningococcal polysaccharide vaccines are effective in older children and adults but are less immunogenic and induce limited immune memory in young children[1][2]. The PRP component is designed to induce immunity against invasive Hib disease through antibodies against the Hib capsule.
