Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Meningococcal conjugate vaccine, ACWY-CRM is a quadrivalent glycoconjugate vaccine designed for the prevention of invasive meningococcal disease caused by *Neisseria meningitidis* serogroups A, C, W, and Y. It contains purified polysaccharides from these serogroups, each conjugated to the non-toxic diphtheria cross-reacting material 197 (CRM197) protein, enhancing immunogenicity by stimulating T-cell dependent immunity. There are two main presentations: the original two-vial formulation (MenA lyophilized + MenC/W/Y liquid, requiring reconstitution before injection) and a newer, single-vial fully liquid formulation, developed to improve ease of use and reduce the risk of administration errors. The vaccine is administered as a single 0.5 mL intramuscular dose and has demonstrated robust immunogenicity, safety, and non-inferior efficacy compared to traditional presentations in phase 2b clinical studies[1][4].
