Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A quadrivalent meningococcal conjugate vaccine developed by the Lanzhou Institute of Biological Products for the prevention of invasive meningococcal disease. The vaccine is a lyophilized (freeze-dried) formulation containing capsular polysaccharide antigens from Neisseria meningitidis serogroups A, C, Y, and W-135, each conjugated to a carrier protein to enhance immunogenicity, particularly in infants and young children. By inducing the production of serogroup-specific bactericidal antibodies, the vaccine provides protection against meningitis and septicemia caused by these four serogroups. It has been evaluated in Phase 3 clinical trials (e.g., CTR20201077 and NCT02481232) to assess its safety and immunogenicity across various age groups, demonstrating non-inferiority to established meningococcal vaccines.
