Drug intelligence / Profile preview
The meningococcal group A, C, W-135 and Y conjugate vaccine (specifically the version marketed by GSK as Menveo) is a quadrivalent vaccine indicated for active immunization to prevent invasive meningococcal disease caused by *Neisseria meningitidis* serogroups A, C, Y, and W-135. It consists of purified capsular polysaccharides from these four serogroups, each individually conjugated to a non-toxic mutant of diphtheria toxin carrier protein (CRM197). This conjugation converts the T-cell independent polysaccharides into T-cell dependent antigens, which significantly enhances immunogenicity and induces immunological memory, particularly in infants and young children. In the context of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) research, this vaccine has been utilized as an active comparator or co-administered vaccine in clinical trials (such as NCT03636906) evaluating investigational RSV candidates like ChAd155-RSV to assess safety, reactogenicity, and potential immune interference.
