Overview
The meningococcal group A and C conjugate vaccine is a bivalent vaccine designed to prevent invasive meningococcal disease caused by *Neisseria meningitidis* serogroups A and C. Developed by CanSino Biologics (marketed as Menace in China), the vaccine consists of purified capsular polysaccharides from these two serogroups, each chemically conjugated to a tetanus toxoid (TT) carrier protein. This conjugation converts the T-cell independent polysaccharide antigens into T-cell dependent antigens, which significantly enhances immunogenicity and induces immunological memory, particularly in infants and young children. The vaccine is typically provided as a lyophilized powder for reconstitution and is administered via intramuscular injection. It was approved by China's NMPA in 2021 for use in children starting from 3 months of age.
