Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A **quadrivalent vaccine** composed of purified capsular polysaccharides from *Neisseria meningitidis* serogroups A, C, W, and Y, each individually conjugated to **tetanus toxoid** as a carrier protein. The vaccine is formulated as a sterile, preservative-free, ready-to-use liquid with **no adjuvant** added. It induces robust immune responses against all four serogroups via production of bactericidal antibodies targeting the bacterial polysaccharides. The primary mechanism of action is to stimulate T-cell dependent immune responses, resulting in lasting antibody formation, immune memory, and protection against *Neisseria meningitidis* infection. Indicated for active immunization to prevent invasive meningococcal disease caused by the included serogroups, it is approved for multiple age groups (from 12 months in Europe, from 2 years in the USA). Developed using high polysaccharide-to-protein ratio conjugation chemistry, it is distinguished as the first MenACWY conjugate to use tetanus toxoid for all four serogroups[1][2][3].
