meningococcal polysaccharide diphtheria conjugate vaccine (Sanofi)

Meningococcal polysaccharide diphtheria conjugate vaccine is an active immunizing agent used to prevent invasive disease caused by Neisseria meningitidis serogroups A, C, Y, and W-135. The vaccine contains capsular polysaccharides from these four serogroups of N. meningitidis that are individually conjugated to a carrier protein—diphtheria toxoid—which enhances the immune response by promoting T-cell dependent immunity. This results in improved immunogenicity compared to plain polysaccharide vaccines and provides longer-lasting protection with immune memory. It is administered intramuscularly and indicated for use in children as young as 2 months (Menveo) or 9 months (Menactra), up through adults aged 55 years[1][3][5][7]. The primary indication is prevention of invasive meningococcal disease.
