Overview
MPV-ACYW135 is a quadrivalent meningococcal polysaccharide vaccine (MPV) designed to provide active immunization against invasive meningococcal disease caused by *Neisseria meningitidis* serogroups A, C, Y, and W135. Developed by Beijing Minhai Biotechnology and other Chinese manufacturers, the vaccine contains purified capsular polysaccharides from each of the four serogroups. It induces a T-cell independent immune response, resulting in the production of serogroup-specific bactericidal antibodies. This polysaccharide version has been licensed and widely used in China since 2012, primarily for older children and adults, while conjugate versions (MCV-ACYW135) are developed for broader use including infants.
