Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Meningococcal serogroups A, C, W-135, Y tetanus toxoid conjugate vaccine (marketed under the brand name Nimenrix) is a quadrivalent conjugate vaccine originally developed by GSK and later acquired by Pfizer. It is indicated for active immunization against invasive meningococcal disease caused by Neisseria meningitidis serogroups A, C, W-135, and Y. The vaccine consists of purified capsular polysaccharides from each of the four serogroups, each individually conjugated to a tetanus toxoid carrier protein. This conjugation converts the T-cell-independent polysaccharide antigens into T-cell-dependent antigens, enhancing immunogenicity and inducing immunological memory, particularly in infants and young children. It is administered via intramuscular injection.
