Overview

**Menotropin + urofollitropin** is a combination of two gonadotropin hormones used in assisted reproductive technology (ART), particularly in in vitro fertilization (IVF) protocols. Menotropin (also called menotropins or human menopausal gonadotropins) contains both follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH) activity, while urofollitropin is a highly purified form of FSH derived from human urine. Together they stimulate ovarian follicular development by mimicking the action of endogenous gonadotropins, supporting the development of multiple follicles and, subsequently, oocyte maturation. The combination is used especially in women who have undergone pituitary suppression with a GnRH agonist or antagonist, for the development of multiple follicles for egg retrieval and subsequent embryo transfer during ART procedures. Both agents act mainly on the FSH receptor but menotropin also provides LH receptor stimulation. This regimen is indicated for ovarian stimulation in patients with an infertility diagnosis, and is administered via subcutaneous injection. No combination under a unified specific brand name exists; the practice is to mix individually branded menotropin (such as Menopur, by Ferring) and urofollitropin (such as Bravelle, also by Ferring) in a single syringe for injection[1][3][5].
