Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Dragon Balm (also marketed as Amrutanjan Dragon Balm) is a topical herbal analgesic formulation containing menthol (derived from *Pudina ka phool*) and methyl salicylate (derived from *Gandhapura tel* or wintergreen oil). It is manufactured by Amrutanjan Health Care and distributed in East Africa by Abacus Pharma. The balm is indicated for the temporary relief of headaches, nasal congestion, muscular aches, joint pain, backaches, and sprains. Upon topical application, menthol acts as a counter-irritant by stimulating cold-sensitive receptors to produce a cooling sensation, while methyl salicylate acts as a local analgesic by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis, thereby reducing localized pain and inflammation.
