Menveo + Menactra refers to the combined administration of two quadrivalent meningococcal conjugate vaccines, each designed to protect against invasive disease caused by Neisseria meningitidis serogroups A, C, W, and Y. Both are conjugate vaccines but differ in their carrier proteins—Menveo uses CRM197 (a non-toxic mutant of diphtheria toxin) as the carrier protein, while Menactra uses diphtheria toxoid. These vaccines stimulate an immune response by presenting polysaccharide antigens from the bacterial capsule conjugated to a protein carrier, enhancing immunogenicity especially in young children. They do not protect against serogroup B meningococcus. The primary indication is for active immunization to prevent invasive meningococcal disease in individuals ranging from infants (as young as 2 months for Menveo and 9 months for Menactra) up through adults aged 55 years[1][3][7]. Co-administration is generally safe but not routinely recommended unless both are specifically indicated; they are considered interchangeable for most purposes[2][9].
