Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Mepivacaine + epinephrine is a combination local anesthetic used for dental procedures and other local or regional anesthesia. Mepivacaine is an amide-type local anesthetic that stabilizes neuronal membranes and prevents the initiation and transmission of nerve impulses, thereby producing local anesthesia. Epinephrine is added as a vasoconstrictor to promote local hemostasis, decrease systemic absorption, and increase the duration of action of the anesthetic.
