Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Meridol is an oral care product line developed by Colgate-Palmolive, specifically designed for the management of dental plaque and gingivitis. The regimen consists of a toothpaste and mouthwash formulated with a dual active system of amine fluoride (olaflur) and stannous fluoride. This combination provides synergistic antibacterial efficacy, effectively inactivating plaque bacteria and inhibiting the formation of new biofilms on the tooth surface and gingival margin. By reducing bacterial colonization and the resulting inflammatory response, Meridol promotes the natural regeneration of irritated gums and helps prevent the progression of gum disease. Clinical evaluations, including 12-week Phase 3 studies, have demonstrated the efficacy of the Meridol regimen in significantly reducing plaque scores and improving gingival health compared to standard fluoride oral care products.
