Mescaline + ketanserin is a combination of two small molecule drugs. Mescaline is a naturally occurring psychedelic protoalkaloid of the substituted phenethylamine class, known for its hallucinogenic effects mediated primarily through agonism at the serotonin 5-HT2A receptor. Ketanserin is an antihypertensive agent and selective serotonin 5-HT2A receptor antagonist, also acting on α1-adrenergic and histamine H1 receptors. When administered together, ketanserin blocks or significantly attenuates the psychoactive effects of mescaline by antagonizing the 5-HT2A receptor, thereby preventing mescaline-induced altered states of consciousness[1][4][5]. This combination has been used in research to study serotonergic mechanisms underlying psychedelic experiences.
