Overview

This investigational combination biologic therapy is being developed by the University of the Punjab for the treatment of knee osteoarthritis. It consists of a cell-free secretome derived from cultured mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) combined with autologous plasma rich in growth factors (PRGF). The secretome contains a concentrated array of bioactive molecules, including cytokines and extracellular vesicles, while the PRGF provides a scaffold and additional growth factors to stimulate tissue regeneration. Administered via intra-articular injection under ultrasound guidance, the therapy aims to reduce inflammation, alleviate pain, and promote the repair of damaged articular cartilage in patients with mild to moderate knee osteoarthritis.
