Overview

This investigational cell therapy consists of multipotent mesenchymal stromal cells (MMSCs) derived from the bone marrow of allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell donors. Developed by the National Research Center for Hematology in Russia, the therapy is intended for the prophylaxis and treatment of acute graft-versus-host disease (aGVHD) in patients undergoing hematopoietic stem cell transplantation for conditions such as acute leukemia, aplastic anemia, or multiple myeloma. The cells are cultured in alpha-MEM supplemented with human platelet lysate and administered via intravenous infusion. The mechanism of action involves potent immunomodulation, primarily through the suppression of T-cell activation and the reduction of inflammatory cytokine production, thereby mitigating the immune-mediated tissue damage characteristic of GVHD.
