metformin + clemastine

Metformin + clemastine is an investigational combination therapy currently being studied for its potential to promote remyelination in people with multiple sclerosis (MS), particularly relapsing-remitting MS. Metformin is a widely used oral antihyperglycemic agent for type 2 diabetes, believed to rejuvenate oligodendrocyte precursor cells, thereby enhancing their ability to produce myelin. Clemastine is an oral first-generation antihistamine that has shown the ability to promote the maturation of oligodendrocytes and stimulate myelin repair. Preclinical studies suggest that metformin may enhance the remyelinating effects of clemastine, but this combination has only recently entered human clinical trials.
