Drug intelligence / Profile preview
CJT-L9 is a needle-free autoinjector formulation of methotrexate, utilizing Crossject's proprietary ZENEO® technology. It is being developed for the treatment of chronic rheumatoid arthritis. Methotrexate is a well-established disease-modifying antirheumatic drug (DMARD) that functions as a folate analogue and inhibits dihydrofolate reductase (DHFR). This inhibition leads to a decrease in the synthesis of thymidylate and purines, thereby suppressing the proliferation of immune cells involved in the inflammatory process of rheumatoid arthritis. The ZENEO® device is designed to provide a needle-free, high-pressure injection, which may improve patient adherence and ease of administration compared to traditional needle-based syringes, especially for patients with limited hand dexterity or needle phobia.
