Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A combination chemotherapy regimen consisting of methotrexate and actinomycin D. This combination is primarily used in the treatment of gestational trophoblastic neoplasia (GTN), particularly low-risk GTN. Methotrexate is an antimetabolite that inhibits dihydrofolate reductase, preventing the formation of tetrahydrofolate and interfering with DNA synthesis. Actinomycin D is an antibiotic that binds to DNA and inhibits RNA synthesis. Together, these agents provide enhanced efficacy compared to either agent alone in treating GTN.
