Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A combination chemotherapy regimen consisting of methotrexate and mitoxantrone. This combination is primarily used in the treatment of advanced breast cancer. Mitoxantrone is a synthetic anthracenedione that intercalates into DNA, causes crosslinks and strand breaks, and inhibits topoisomerase II. Methotrexate is an antimetabolite that inhibits dihydrofolate reductase, disrupting DNA synthesis and cellular replication. The combination leverages complementary mechanisms to achieve therapeutic effects against cancer cells.
